WAYNESBORO, Va (WVIR) -
People in Waynesboro got to experience some extreme sports Saturday.

The 8tn annual Extreme Fest included kayaking, bungee jumping, an obstacle course, and more. It also featured three separate shows by a group of professional BMX bikers.

Waynesboro Parks and Recreation crews organized the event and say it's all about getting the community outdoors to try out something new.

"The whole idea is to get families outside exploring new activities that they might, be a little extreme, might be a little outside their comfort zone and just sort of showing them that there are a whole bunch of activities that they can participate in as a family outside, enjoying getting fit” said Spencer Evans, the Parks and Recreation event coordinator.

Parks and Recreation staff says the event is free to everyone in the community to encourage people to come out and get active.
