Hundreds Brought Out Pups For the First SPCA Bow Wow Walk

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -

Hundreds of people brought their pups out Saturday to Charlottesville's Lee Park to walk for a good cause.

It was the first Bow Wow Walk fundraiser hosted by the SPCA and NBC29 was a proud sponsor.

The goal was to raise $35,000 for the shelter.

Saturday’s walk beat that, raising more than $42,000.

"We're big fans of the SPCA Charlottesville. We adopted Bentley from there in 2012 and we just wanted to support them," said Teresa Napier, a participant in the walk.

After the walk, there was a party in the park that featured live music, food trucks, dog treats, and pools so the dogs could take a dip to cool off after their walk.
