A Charlottesville nonprofit is asking for your help this summer. The Jefferson Area Board for Aging (JABA) is looking for volunteers.
Its regular volunteers take vacations so the organization is looking to the community to step in. JABA is looking for people to help out with children's and senior programs, tutoring and even meal delivery.
JABA’s director, Leanne Probst, says it's rewarding for both volunteers and those on the receiving end. “Contributing gives someone a sense of purpose, it makes you feel good. You're really part of the thread, the fabric that makes up the fabric of the community. It's important.”
JABA says it has many opportunities for people willing to volunteer even as little as an hour a week.
