ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va (WVIR) -

For the 19th year, the Albemarle County Police Department recognized its best men and women in uniform Wednesday night.

A handful of officers were singled out for outstanding work. Officer Tim Carrico, for the second year in a row, won the lifesaving award. Officer Andrew Gluba was honored with the chief's eagle award and Officer Jonathan Hickory took home the prestigious officer of the year award.

“I feel proud to receive it. I work hard every day because I want to. I still get up every day and love coming to work to serve my community,” Hickory said.

The event was held at the Boar's Head Inn.
