Acting VA Mental Health Commissioner to Retire

Posted: Updated:
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - Virginia's acting mental health commissioner plans to retire on Sept. 1.

John Pezzoli tells The Daily Progress that his wife will retire this summer and they are looking forward to starting a new chapter. He says that includes traveling to visit the couple's daughters.

The 68-year-old Pezzoli is chief deputy commissioner at the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services. He has served as acting commissioner since James Stewart II retired in January.

The newspaper says Pezzoli announced his retirement Tuesday in an email addressed to friends and colleagues.
