Augusta Wants Staunton to Support County Courthouse

The Augusta County Board of Supervisors agreed the next step in keeping their county courts in Staunton is to work with the city's leaders and see what they're willing to do to financially support the building.

Augusta County leaders have been talking about whether the courts should stay in Staunton or move out to Verona for years now. The circuit court has been in the same building in the heart of Staunton since 1901. But even with nearly $50,000 of work almost completed, the building has gross inadequacies, according to Supervisor David Karaffa.
