Waynesboro City Council is keeping its current tax rate.
City Manager Michael Hamp proposed a 2-cent real estate tax increase to fill holes in the Police Department. But not one person seconded the proposal and the city will keep the rate at 80 cents per $100 of assessed value.
The council hopes Hamp will find $300,000 in the budget to help fill the law police vacancies.
