An Albemarle County man faces up to 70 years behind bars for his wrongdoings with a juvenile. Jeffrey Roach pleaded guilty Tuesday to a trio of child sex crimes.
An Albemarle County patrol officer caught Roach in the act in November 2013. He was having sex with a 16-year-old in a car in a church parking lot.
Roach, 43, entered an Alford Plea in Albemarle County Circuit Court Tuesday on three charges - production of child porn, reproduction of child porn, and the use of a communications device to solicit a minor.
In court, the prosecutor said Roach was having a relationship with a family friend's daughter for more than a year. The prosecutor said it was an on-going violation of her youth.
"Concern is because this is someone who had been in an offense with a child for an ongoing period of time. He may be a predator and with the work of the team, they were able to get that type of offender off the street,” said Darby Lowe, deputy commonwealth’s attorney.
The prosecutor says Roach had pictures of the victim on his phone and had two inappropriate communications with her via Facebook.
As part of the agreement, the commonwealth will not pursue any other charges. Roach is set to be sentenced on October 1. He faces anywhere between three and 70 years in prison.
