STAUNTON, Va (WVIR) -
French exchange students visiting Staunton got a chance to learn some baseball skills Sunday. The head coach of the Staunton Braves, George Lasse, taught students how to throw and catch.
The kids got to take some hacks in the batting cage as well. The point was to show friends from across the pond a little bit more about one of America's favorite pastimes.
“We're going to just give them the basics, want to give them a chance to get in the batting cage a little bit, for some of them maybe the first time they've hit the baseball, get the glove up" said Lasse.
The students did get some help from an interpreter to learn some of the tips, but they caught on quickly. The exchange program is through Lee High School in Staunton.
