UVa Baseball Beats UNC 3-2 in ACC Tournament

The Virginia baseball team improved to 1-1 in the ACC Tournament with a 3-2 win against North Carolina Friday night.

Joe McCarthy scored the game-winning run on a single by Derek Fisher in the top of the 8th inning.

Branden Cogswell went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead UVa (44-12).

Brandon Waddell scattered six hits over five innings while striking out seven.

Whit Mayberry picked up his 6th win of the season in relief, despite giving up a game-tying home run to UNC's Wood Myers in the bottom of the 7th inning.

Nick Howard got the final three outs for his 18th save of the season.

Virginia will play Florida State in its final game of the ACC Tournament Saturday at 7 PM.
