Charlottesville Police Searching for Second Suspect in Homicide

Posted: Updated: May 22, 2014 05:34 PM

Police are now looking for a second suspect in Charlottesville’s second murder of the year.

Thursday, Charlottesville police obtained warrants for 29-year-old Brittany Deshawna Alamo of Buckingham County. While police say she's not directly responsible for the murder of Oscar Nathaniel Brown on May 17, Alamo apparently helped the prime suspect after it happened. She is wanted for being an accessory after the fact and tampering with evidence.

Police found Brown, 36, dead outside an apartment complex on Hardy Drive in the early morning of May 17. They say he was shot to death.

Police believe 39-year-old Avery Gray Jr. pulled the trigger. Gray is now wanted for first-degree murder.

Investigators say they have received several tips in the case so far. If you know any information about the case or where the suspects may be located, call Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000. All calls are kept confidential.

Editors Note:  This story was edited to correct that these suspects are wanted in connection with Charlottesville's second murder of the year, not the first.
