Staunton Man Hit by Valley Community Services Vehicle

Emergency crews flew a Staunton man to the University of Virginia Medical Center Wednesday after a vehicle hit him.

It happened shortly after 8 a.m. at the intersection of Greenville Avenue and Johnson Street. The impact left the victim, 56-year-old Keith Alves, with a head injury.

The vehicle is from Valley Community Services, and the driver, 60-year-old Joseph Ellinger Jr., is charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian.
