RICHMOND, Va (WVIR) -
The Miller School baseball team lost 2-0 against the Steward School in the VISAA Division II state championship game Sunday at Shepherd Stadium in Colonial Heights.

Spartans pitcher Nick Enright turned in a dominating performance, limiting the Mavericks to just two hits while striking out ten batters in a complete game shutout.

All of the runs came in the 4th inning.

Dan McCarthy drove in a run on an RBI double, and Steward added another on a bases loaded walk.

The Mavericks were playing for a state championship for the first time since winning the Division III title in 2006.

Head coach Billy Wagner says, "I think (the season) would be a success, but second is like kissing your sister. I'm not that guy to be politically correct: We wanted to win the state championship. It was a great year. We matured quite a bit, but we've got a long ways to go, and I look forward to that challenge with these young kids, and moving forward."
