The top-ranked Virginia baseball team will play its last series of the regular season this week, as the Cavaliers open up a three-game set at Wake Forest Thursday.
UVa is the #1 ranked team in the nation, but they're not #1 in the ACC.
Virginia is currently in second place in the conference; a game behind league-leader Miami.
The Hoos won 2-of-3 games against the Hurricanes back in March, but Miami has gone 25-2 since that series.
UVa still has a chance at a regular season conference championship, but they need to take care of business at Wake Forest, and get some help.
Sophomore rightfielder Joe McCarthy says, "It's definitely something we want to do, but we're going to go out this weekend not with that goal in mind. We're just going to try to win the games that are in front of us. We'll be hoping Miami loses a game or two this weekend, but we're not going to treat it any differently."
Head coach Brian O'Connor adds, "Miami is playing as hot as anybody in the entire country. Good for them. That's great for our league. All we can do is go out and try to play our best game on Thursday night."
First pitch for Thursday's game at Wake Forest is scheduled for six o'clock.
