UPDATE 5/16/2014: The Albemarle County Police Department has announced that reward of up to $10,000 is available through CrimeStoppers for information that would lead to a successful resolution of the investigation.

Albemarle County police got a big break in the case of a missing man dating back a decade. The case of Jesse Hicks had gone cold but now it's heating up. His remains have been discovered far from his Fluvanna County home.

Jesse Hicks was last seen in 2004. Fluvanna County sheriff's investigators say the 46-year-old left his Antioch home for work on the morning of September 1 and never returned. His Ford F-150 truck was found on September 5 in Nelson County.

Albemarle County police say a person found the remains on Wednesday May 7 and they were positively identified on Friday May 9.

Albemarle police are being tight-lipped about the discovery, only saying it happened in the Keene area. Police aren't telling us the exact location because only someone with knowledge of the case would know this specific location.

Police also won't say how the remains were discovered.

The Medical Examiner's Office in Richmond says the cause and manner of death are still pending.
If you have any information about the new revelations in this case, police want to hear from you, call Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000.
