A Louisa County mother, who pleaded guilty to her role in the death of her infant son, will spend three years behind bars.
Thirty-two-year-old Tristan Goodwin was sentenced Monday in Louisa County Circuit Court for involuntary manslaughter and felony child neglect. A judge gave her a total of 20 years, but suspended 17 of them.
Goodwin had pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and felony child neglect in March.Goodwin's son, Tyler, died on March 17, 2013 at the family's home.
At first, rescue crews thought the baby died from sudden infant death syndrome but the final autopsy showed a lethal dose of Benadryl in his system.
