Just in time for Mother’s Day, one lucky kid will be giving her mom an extra special treat. Gearharts Chocolates partnered with the Boys and Girls Club this year to host a design challenge. The winner got their artwork printed on a special Mother's Day chocolate.
Allaire Thomas was the winner from Charlottesville. The decorative package also features designs from winners in Richmond, Fairfax, and Newport News.
"It's a fun way to bring in the community into what we do,” Gearharts Chocolates owner Tim Gearhart stated. "Anytime that you can have kids doing, putting their own artwork and using that on our own chocolates, I think that's always a win-win for everybody."
To transfer the artwork, Gearhart says they printed the design on cocoa butter, and then pressed them into the chocolate as it cooled.
Gearharts also made a donation to each of the branches of the Boys and Girls Club they worked with.
