Cville Woman Sets up "Meditation Box" Around the City
Jennifer Tidwell and the meditation box
A Charlottesville woman is inviting you to come sit in her meditation box to enjoy five minutes of solitude.
Jennifer Tidwell is bringing the meditation box to a different spot in the city every Friday for the next six weeks. Visitors stop by, go in, and sit for five minutes and look at a piece of artwork. Tidwell calls the exhibit "While You Wait."
Thursday, Tidwell set up shop on the Corner. She says she hopes the five minutes of solitude will help people learn to stop and pay attention.
“If you happen to walk by and you express interest, I will invite you to come and spend five minutes alone. You can't bring your friend in with you. I'll set the timer and then I'll knock on the door at the end of the five minutes,” said Tidwell.
Tidwell says cellphones are discouraged. She says the idea for the solitude box came to her in a dream.
The five minutes is free of charge.
