CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - A longtime Charlottesville resident is getting a home makeover thanks to Wells Fargo and the Albemarle Housing Improvement Program (AHIP).

Thursday, both groups presented Carrie Washington with a check for $15,000.  The money will be used as part of AHIP's "Block x Block" initiative to spruce up. AHIP is a nonprofit home repair organization.

"It means everything to me. A new house, almost new house, and I’m so proud. I'm just excited about it all," Washington said.

Washington has lived in the home for 59 years. As part of the work, volunteers will update the home's kitchen, replace windows, and paint.
