ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va (WVIR) -

A group of Renaissance High School students is just weeks away from heading to Haiti, where they will help build an elementary school.

The group held a fundraiser at Triple C Camp in Albemarle County on Sunday. Visitors got to try out the climbing wall and zip line.

All donations went to the Raise the Roof Haiti group.

Students say they're excited to build the school and experience Haiti's culture.

“I'm really excited about it, to interact with the locals and we get to stay in their house, and so they're going to be feeding us and we'll be interacting with them,” said Jessica Prax, a member of the group.

Before Sunday's fundraiser the group had raised about $27,000, which is $8,000 shy of their goal.

The group will spend a week in June working on the school.
