UVA Students Face Judiciary Committee after Accidentally Firing Gun
Two University of Virginia students faced the school's judiciary committee Thursday for accidentally firing a gun in their apartment and almost hitting their neighbors.
Fourth-year students Phil Lee and Jung Cho were originally charged with misdemeanor reckless handling of a firearm for discharging an AK-47-style rifle on April 21. The incident happened in an apartment complex in the 1800 block of Jefferson Park Avenue.
Three days later, the charges were dismissed in General District Court.
A UVA law student who was almost hit by the bullet in an apartment across the hall testified at Thursday's hearing. University officials say the results of that hearing are confidential and would not comment further.
