Charlottesville Police Investigate Woolen Mills Gunfire

Charlottesville police are investigating a violent confrontation in the Woolen Mills area of the city.

Police received a reports of multiple shots fired in the 1700 block of Chesapeake Street just after 11:00 Sunday night. When they arrived on the scene they found several cars that had been involved in accidents, as well as shell casings and bullet fragments. 

Police say everyone involved fled the scene before the officers arrived.  Police don't think anyone was shot, but there may have been injuries from the accidents.

On 04/27/14 at approx. 11:05 pm Charlottesville Police Officers responded to the 1700 Block of Chesapeake Street in response to calls of multiple shots being fired.

When they arrived officers found several vehicles that had been involved in accidents as well as shell casings and bullet fragments, some of which impacted at least one of the vehicles. All occupants of the vehicles had fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival.

At this time there is no indication that anyone was struck by a bullet although there appear to be minor injuries resulting from the accidents.

Police detectives are investigating the incident and there is no further information available at this time.
