Waynesboro Wildlife Center Seeks Sponsors for Animals

Posted: Updated:

Animal lovers have a chance to support some wild animals in Waynesboro. The Wildlife Center of Virginia is looking for some help.

The "Caring for Critters" program connects sponsors with animals - including hawks, owls, opossums and snakes - that can never be released back into the wild for a variety of reasons. Donors will receive updates, a picture and information on how their adopted animal is doing.

"In that adoption, people get a real snapshot of a particular animal. And they get to learn more about that animal, and they can form this personal connection with their sponsored animal,” said Amanda Nicholson, the wildlife center’s outreach director.

Many of the animals are used during outreach efforts at schools or libraries.

You can sponsor an animal for six months for $25 or for a full year for $50. The money goes toward providing food and shelter.
