Charlottesville closed out Earth Week with an Eco Fair in the Main Street Arena Sunday. People got a chance to meet with businesses and nonprofits that work to create renewable energy solutions and teach people about environmentally-friendly practices.
Charlottesville schools also took part. Students decorated the fair with drawings related to Earth Week.
The Eco Fair's main sponsor, Republic Services, encouraged visitors to recycle.
“If we continue to maximize what we're able to reclaim and reuse, obviously that allows less and less stress on the environment and allows us to be a more productive and sustainable society for future generations,” said David Holcomb with Republic Services.
The Eco Fair started more than 10 years ago in Charlottesville. Organizers say it's still a growing event with new organizations joining every year.
