Play On! Theater's Yard Sale Raises Money For Road Shows
Play On! Yard Sale
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) -
A volunteer-run community theater in Charlottesville is raising money to take its shows on the road. Play On! held a big yard sale Saturday to get rid of items including costumes and props.
The group recently moved into a new home in Belmont after high rent forced it out of its location in the IX building last year.
Now, the theater group needs money to continue putting on shows at different venues.
“Because we're going to be traveling a lot in our new model, we're going to have to be producing new sets of costumes and sets and things for each show,” said facilities manager Malinda Smith. “We're not going to be able to store things, which can be little more expensive, so we're trying to raise money for that.”
Play On! hoped to raise $6,000 through Saturday's yard sale.
