Judge Approves Settlement in Wrongful Death Suit against Former Culpeper Officer

Posted: Updated:

A Culpeper Circuit Court judge approved the $300,000 settlement Tuesday in the Patricia Ann Cook wrongful death suit against former Culpeper police officer, 33-year-old Daniel Harmon-Wright.

The one-time U.S. Marine and Iraq war veteran shot and killed Cook more than two years ago following a verbal altercation on North East Street near the heart of downtown Culpeper.

Of the settlement, nearly $130,000 will cover attorney's fees. The rest will go to the Weiglers, Cook's only surviving family.
