Folk Sentenced on Child Sex Abuse Charge

Posted: Updated:

A Staunton man will serve 25 years in prison on sex abuse charges involving a child. Forty-three-year-old Daniel K. Folk V received his sentencing Thursday in Augusta County Circuit Court.

Folk was arrested last June by the Augusta County Sheriff's Office after, police say, he had begun abusing an 8-year-old girl over the course of a week.

In January Folk entered an Alford plea to charges of aggravated sexual battery, forcible sodomy and object sexual penetration. An Alford plea means he will be sentenced as if he pleaded guilty, but does not admit he committed the crimes.

Folk admitted in the past two hearings that he had failed the victim along with his other family members.

The judge suspended 70 years of the original 95 year term.
