Family Asks for Public's Help in Search for Missing Baby Goat
ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va (WVIR) -
A baby goat named “Freckles” is missing from Misty Mountain campgrounds in Albemarle County.
The family last saw Freckles Sunday afternoon around 4 p.m. By the time they returned from a party at 7 p.m., Freckles was gone. Freckles tended never to leave his mother Zoe's side, and there was no sign of a predator entering the pen.
Zoe has been distressed without her little one, and the owners say if the baby goat is returned - there will be no questions asked. Four-week-old Freckles is too young to survive without his mother or being bottle-fed several times a day.
The family, the owners of Misty Mountain, say they're willing to offer a reward if Freckles comes back into their care. They say they've never had any animals disappear before, and it's concerning that someone would take him.
"Could you please bring him back? Because he means a lot to us,” said Gloria Leo, daughter.
Zoe also gave birth to Freckles' sister, Misty, several weeks ago.
"The two babies - they just constantly play all the time. My daughters really enjoyed playing with them and it's a pretty big loss to them,” said Mike Leo, owner.
Many of the visitors at Misty Mountain enjoy playing with all the goats, and Freckles was treated with great affection.
The owners reiterate that if Freckles is returned to Misty Mountain they do not have an interest in pressing charges, they just want to be reunited with the youngest member of their family.
