Work to remove the existing cobblestone crosswalks, mill, re-pave, and then re-mark crosswalks on all legs of the intersection at the University Avenue and 14th Street NW railroad underpass that was scheduled to begin Monday has been delayed.
A new start date has not been finalized.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA -- In order to gain additional clearance at the University Avenue and14th Street NW railroad underpass, the City of Charlottesville will remove the existing cobblestone crosswalks, mill, re-pave, and then re-mark crosswalks on all legs of the intersection.
This will provide an additional two inches or more of clearance for large vehicles.
The work will be done in several phases, with the first phase, cobblestone removal and temporary paving, beginning Monday, April 21 and continuing on Tuesday andWednesday (April 22 and 23). Work will take place between 9:00 am and 3:30 pmeach day.
Traffic flow will maintained in all directions but may experience occasional delays.
Additional phases of the project will be noticed as dates are finalized.
