Police are investigating a series of crashes that caused a backup on Ivy Road Thursday morning.
The first happened just before 9 a.m. between two cars at the intersection of Ivy and Broomley Road. Shortly after that, there was a second accident nearby, involving four cars.
Police say it was a chain reaction and that the second crash was likely a result of the first.
"When you pass an accident keep looking straight ahead, stay off your cell phone and pay attention to your driving and what's in front of you, cause you'll cause another accident if you don't,” said Corporal Ken Richardson, of the Albemarle County Police Department.
A driver involved in the first accident is facing charges for following too close. Charges are pending against a driver in the second accident.
No one was seriously injured and everyone refused medical treatment at the scene.
