Staunton Performing Arts Center Hosts Open Mic Night

Posted: Updated:

When the Mockingbird closed its doors in downtown Staunton, it took open mic night with it - until now.

The Staunton Performing Arts Center on Beverley Street resurrected the acoustic-only event, which welcomes seasoned professionals, but is interested in new performers.

"An open mic is a great opportunity for someone who is not always used to playing in front of an audience to get out there and hear the applause and figure out how to do it better. That's part of what it's all about,” said open mic host Fritz Horisk.

Open mic is the third Wednesday of every month with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. It's free but the Staunton Music Guild will be accepting donations.
