U.S. Senator Tim Kaine is making rounds in Charlottesville Monday, starting with a breakfast with Charlottesville business leaders.
The Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce's (CRCC) Chamber Commonwealth Breakfast took place Monday morning. More than 200 business leaders gathered at the Holiday Inn on Emmet Street. It's was a chance for area business leaders to focus on broader issues that affect not just this region, but all of Virginia.
The breakfast is held annually and honor’s Chamber member-volunteers who have made outstanding contributions to the CRCC. Hollie Lee received the 2014 Chamber Volunteer Award for her work with the Chamber through Charlottesville’s Economic Development Department.
"It's extremely important, because we want to have a community where businesses can thrive so individuals who want to start up their own businesses can do that and can have that opportunity and for existing businesses to grow and be successful here,” said Lee.
U.S. Senator Tim Kaine was the keynote speaker at the event. He spoke about the economy, foreign policy, and military preparedness.
Kaine will also be speaking at Professor Larry Sabato's Introduction to American Politics class Monday at 3 p.m. at the Wilson Hall auditorium at the University of Virginia.
