CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) - The #2 Virginia baseball team beat #14 Clemson 1-0 Sunday at Davenport Field to clinch the ACC Series win against the Tigers.

Mike Papi drove in the lone run of the game on a bases loaded lineout to right field in the 3rd inning, as Robbie Coman was able to tag and score from 3rd.

Brandon Waddell pitched 6 1/3 innings for Virginia (30-6, 14-4 ACC), giving up six hits and no walks while striking out four.

White Mayberry pitched 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief, before Nick Howard came on in the 9th to record his 11th save in eleven opportunities.

Head coach Brian O'Connor says, "First of all, college baseball games are hard to win. I though Brandon Wadell was terrific. I've talked all weekend about the kind of offensive ball club I think Clemson has, they have a good one, they're very aggressive at the plate and I thought Brandon did a really nice job, that's two outstanding back-to-back outings for him and Whit and Nick came in a did a nice job too so a total team effort."

UVa has earned the series win in all nine weekend series' it has played this year.

Virginia will host Radford Tuesday at 6pm at Davenport Field.
