The Tom Tom Founders Festival wrapped up Sunday night with a neighborhood party in Charlottesville. Live entertainment and fun filled the streets of Belmont.

The Belmont Bash began with the closing of downtown Belmont to cars and the painting of a street mural in the center of the neighborhood. Microbreweries set up tents, and bands played in the lot in front of Fitzgerald's Tires.

The Tom Tom Festival's founder, Paul Beyer, says the Bash really embodies what the festival as a whole is all about. It's a celebration of creativity around Charlottesville.

“The festival's music and art are all about using spaces in new and original ways,” he said.

“Paul actually approached us to do Tom Tom and get the whole neighborhood involved, and so we kind of rallied the troops and we have a whole bunch of signatures from the neighbors to bring the festival down into the Belmont area,” said Valorie Ford who works at La Taza Coffee.

This is the third year of the festival and first year it has incorporated the Belmont neighborhood. Beyer says this was the biggest turnout by far and he expects it will continue to grow each year.
