VSP Continues Investigation of Louisa County Plane Crash

Virginia State Police Press Release

Virginia State Police is continuing its investigation into a plane crash in the 9000 block of Poindexter Road in Louisa County.

Shortly after 7:30 p.m., Apr. 11, Virginia State Police Trooper F. B. Ross was called to the scene after a 1980 fixed wing single-engine Cessna U206G crashed into a field on Route 613, Poindexter Road near Route 649, Byrd Mill Road.

Based on the preliminary and on-going investigation, the plane crashed after a possible mechanical failure with the plane's engine occurred.

The pilot and the passenger, who were the only two occupants in the plane, suffered minor injuries and were transported to UVA Medical Center.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) was notified and responded to the crash scene to conduct and continue the investigation into the cause of the crash.

The Louisa County Sheriff's Office assisted with the on-going investigation by Virginia State Police and the FAA.
