Free Spay & Neuter Services at Charlottesville Albemarle SPCA

Posted: Updated:

For many animal shelters, the spring season means it's time to prepare for the flood of kittens that are about to arrive in their facility. The Charlottesville Albemarle SPCA is offering a spay and neuter special to get ahead of the curve.
The staff will fix any cat living in the area for free. It also includes a rabies vaccine.

The SPCA gets about 100 kittens a month this time of year.

"In springtime we always get oodles and oodles of kittens in and we want people to fix their cats before kitten season, so right now what we're going to do is it's called 'spay your momma' because spring is in the air and all the kittens don't want to be mommas,” said Beth McPhee, director of business affairs at the SPCA.

The special does apply to both male and female cats. The "spay your momma" special goes from now until Mother's Day, May 11.
