VA's Civil War HistoryMobile Making Richmond Stop

Posted: Updated:
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia's Civil War history lesson on wheels is making a stop in Richmond to mark Civil War & Emancipation Day.

Officials say the Civil War 150 HistoryMobile will be in Richmond on Saturday at the Lumpkin's Jail site near 14th and Main streets. Admission is free.

The 18-wheel expandable tractor trailer uses exhibit spaces to present individual stories of the Civil War from the perspective of those who experienced it.

The HistoryMobile's visit coincides with events and access to more than 25 sites and activity centers in the area on Saturday. Information can be found at the Civil War and Emancipation Day website.

The HistoryMobile made its debut in 2011 at Manassas National Battlefield. Since then some 130,000 visitors have enjoyed the mobile museum.

The HistoryMobile will be making stops across Virginia through the end of the year, including stops in Rockingham, Louisa, and Augusta counties.  Click here for the full HistoryMobile schedule.
