Conference in Staunton Designed to Empower Teenage Girls

Posted: Updated:
STAUNTON, Va. (WVIR) -

There's an event in the valley designed to empower teenage girls.

The All Girl Conference at Booker T. Washington Community Center in Staunton provides a day of workshops to middle and high school girls. Not only do the girls attend the conference, but they are also instrumental in planning and presenting workshops.

This year's theme is finding a healthier, happier, more comfortable you.

“We're teaching them how to be OK with themselves, how to be OK with the thoughts that they have, how to be OK with society, and most of that comes from within,” said Makeba Robinson, with Staunton Parks and Recreation.

The conference is Saturday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are still spots available and it's free.
