Dozens came out Wednesday night to kick off the start of this year's Tom Tom Founders Festival.
The crowdfunded pitch night gave 10 groups the opportunity to share business ideas with the community.
The winner of this year's grant is “Apprenticeship Connections,” a business that matches students with masters of hands-on professions. The group will receive a $5,000 grant plus all the money that people paid at the door.
“It really shows how entrepreneurship is available to everyone in the community and there's many points of access to empowering yourself and starting your own career,” said festival founder Paul Beyer.
This was just the start of the five-day festival. There are 60 concerts and 110 speakers you can see the rest of this week and into the weekend.
