William Monroe High School selects New Football Coach

Posted: Updated:

The William Monroe football team has a new head coach, as assistant coach Jon Rocha has been promoted to the top position.

Rocha replaces Mark Sanford, who stepped down in February to pursue other opportunities after five years on the job.

The new coach is a 1992 graduate of William Monroe, and continued his football career at UVA-Wise after graduating from WMHS.

The Dragons had a record of just 3-8 in 2013, but did qualify for the state playoffs, and will return a strong senior class for the 2014 season.
