The top-ranked Virginia baseball team beat Pittsburgh 3-0 behind a career-high eight innings from sophomore starter Brandon Waddell Sunday in the Steel City.

The UVa southpaw gave up only two hits, zero walks, and struck out three batters.

Nick Howard pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his 9th save of the season.

Virginia (27-5, 12-3 ACC) allowed the Panthers to score just three runs in three-games.

The Wahoos won two of three in the series, giving them their 8th straight series win this year.

Howard gave UVa a 1-0 lead in the 4th inning with a two out double which scored Mike Papi from 2nd.

The Cavaliers added two more insurance runs in the top of the 9th.

Virginia returns to action Tuesday at James Madison.
