PVCC Annual Campaign Donations Largest in Recent History
Al Colville, a leading donor to the PVCC 2013 Annual Campaign, with Nicole Boldak, student recipient of the Al and Lucille Colville Scholarship. Colville is a long-time board member of the PVCC Educational Foundation.
It was a record breaking year for Piedmont Virginia Community College.
PVCC has received more than $130,000 in donations as a result of this year's annual giving campaign. That's a nearly 40 percent increase from last year and the most successful in the college's recent history.
PVCC says the investment from the community will help improve students’ education.
"The key part about this is that all of the money from this goes to help students. This is how we have the programs to improve our faculty in the classroom, improve our student services scholarships,” said Jim Ross, VP of institution advancement.
The majority of donations came from business leaders, alumni, and community members.
Piedmont Virginia Community College Press Release
The record-setting generosity of business leaders, alumni, employees and community members provided more than $131,000 in donations to Piedmont Virginia Community College’s 2013 Annual Campaign. Overall giving to PVCC’s annual campaign increased 37% from 2012, and exceeded the $110,000 campaign goal by 20%. This is the largest and most successful annual campaign fundraising effort in the college’s recent history.
The largest increase in giving was achieved by community business leaders, whose donations rose by 195% over the previous year. The campaign was conducted by the PVCC Educational Foundation, whose board members’ donations increased by 78% over 2012. The board members and their employers donated 31% of the total campaign amount. In addition, PVCC employees’ donations rose by 26% this year. A highlight of the campaign also was the Student Government Association for the first time ever acting as a partner in the campaign, with 15 Student Government Association volunteers conducting a fundraising phone-a-thon.
“The ongoing support of our community is an important reason why PVCC is such an outstanding college,” said James W. Ross, vice president for Institutional Advancement and Development. “The real measure of our fundraising success, however, is not only in dollars raised, but in the lives of students that are transformed by PVCC through these donations.”
Annual campaign donations provide PVCC Educational Foundation funds used for scholarships, academic support, student services and a faculty/staff grant program that encourages innovation in the classroom and for student support initiatives to better serve PVCC students.
