A concert choir in the valley is singing the music of masters this Sunday.
Schola Cantorum is a choir of more than 50 that performs classical pieces twice a year. This weekend it is presenting “Requiem” by Maurice Durufle and “Hear my Prayer” by Felix Mendelssohn.
Conductor Jesse Hopkins says Schola Cantorum is an example of Waynesboro's dedication to music.
“There's an orchestra, there are multiple choral ensembles, some slightly different in stylistics, and a good musical tradition in the public schools,” Hopkins said.
The concert is Sunday at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Waynesboro. There's no admission fee, but donations are appreciated.
