Kombucha Company Donates to City Schoolyard Garden
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) -
You can buy a special drink to benefit Charlottesville's City Schoolyard Garden program this month.
Starting Tuesday, family-owned company Barefoot Bucha, based in Nelson County, will be donating 10 percent of sales of its new cran-ginger kombucha flavor. The proceeds will help fund the gardens and activities such as spring fairs at seven elementary and middle schools.
“It'll just go towards City Schoolyard Garden, helping us to prepare for all kinds of things, the garden planting, upcoming events in the spring and general operating of all the things we do in the gardens,” said garden programs fellow Whitney McDermott.
Barefoot Bucha's drink can be found at Rebecca's Natural Food and Whole Foods Market in Charlottesville.
There will be a special tasting event at Whole Foods on Saturday, April 19.
