CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - City Market will kick off its season on Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 7 am - Noon. The market is held Saturday mornings 7 am - Noon from April - October and is located in downtown Charlottesville between Water St. and South St. City Market features over 100 local vendors that sell a variety of fresh produce, herbs, plants, meats, hand -made crafts, a large variety of delectable edibles, fresh coffee and much, much, more.
City Market, which is managed by the City of Charlottesville, Department of Parks & Recreation, provides a fun, safe, family-friendly environment for local vendors to display and sell their home-grown or hand-made products.
Launched in 2010 and continuing for 2014, market customers who receive SNAP (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program) benefits will be able to use their benefit cards at the market to buy fresh produce and meats. Debit cards will also be accepted. This program is managed by Market Central a non-profit organization that supports City Market.
