Waynesboro Schools Event Focuses on Classrooms in 2014
WAYNESBORO, Va (WVIR) -
A game of musical chairs Monday night in Waynesboro helped educate people on classrooms in 2014.
As the music played, people moved to different stations showcasing educational opportunities in Waynesboro schools. This included an ambassador program to Chile and Argentina, teaching programming to elementary students, and flipped classrooms where kids watch the lecture at home and do homework at school.
“All of a sudden the teacher is not the only source of information. There's so much information coming around. So we're teaching our students how to access that, how to find out what is a good source,” said Sue Wright, director of instruction for Waynesboro schools.
The director of instruction says they're trying to meet the desires of the community by teaching kids troubleshooting and creative thinking in addition to core subjects.
