Cville Teachers Kiss Pigs to Benefit School Library

Posted: Updated:

Some Charlottesville teachers will do whatever it takes to raise money for the school's library, even if that means kissing a pig.

Friday, students at Johnson Elementary School watched two of their teachers kiss two small piglets, a pink one and a black one. The teachers tied for raising the most money for the fundraiser, each raising about $190 in donations.

"People put in donations…in the teacher’s jar and whoever had the most money could have to kiss a pig and all the money went to the library,” said fourth-grade student Annabel Granger.

The school's PTO will match the funds raised from the kiss-a-pig event.

The students had to stay extra quiet during the assembly so the little piglets didn't get scared.
