Thursday afternoon, the University of Virginia band is on its way to New York City for the Sweet 16.
The band packed up and boarded a bus for the trip to New York Thursday morning. That will give them a chance to sight see and possibly check out a few shows before the big game Friday.
They're packing all brass instruments so they can have the loudest volume possible in Madison Square Garden.
"So we can really make an impact there in the environment and make the students, the fans, everybody that's there feel like they're part of the action and hopefully get a little home court action while we're there,” said Andrew Koch, associate director of bands at UVA.
"We play as loud as we can and try to really get as much energy as possible. Obviously it's helpful to be home to really have the crowd in it, but when we're away we really gotta push it,” said Parker Reynolds, fourth-year student at UVA who plays the tuba.
The UVA Michigan State game gets underway Friday at 10 p.m.
