People who are looking for a job are flocking to Piedmont Virginia Community College Wednesday. Thirty years - and 30 career fairs later - the event has more employers this year than ever before.
Hallways at PVCC are packed with 60 employers - the most in the history of the career fair – including places like Lowes, Wells Fargo, the University of Virginia and Martha Jefferson Hospital.
Andre Luck, the manager at PVCC’s Career Services, suggests prospective candidates be dressed for success and says temporary, permanent and part time jobs are all available..
“We have a lot of employers with job openings. Sometimes when employers come they don't have openings, but this year things are quite different,” said Luck.
PVCC Career Services suggests prospective employees bring a resume. More importantly, they recommend people come with a couple of sentences they can clearly say about who they are and the reasons they are qualified.
Career advisors suggest taking cards of prospective employers and staying in touch through email. Even though that employer many not have an opening, chances are they may hear of other openings and can let you know.
