Albemarle County Police Department Press Release

The Albemarle County Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect involved in several daytime vehicle smash and grabs.

The incidents occurred at multiple locations including Chris Greene Lake, Albemarle Square and the Rio Hill Shopping Center on Saturday, March 22, 2014.

Entry was gained into at least four vehicles by smashing the windows. Once the suspect had access to the vehicles, items were taken including multiples purses. The stolen credit cards were later used at Wal-Mart, Kohls and Target.

Surveillance video provided a suspect picture and basic car description. It is believed the suspect was driving a white vehicle which can only be described as a crossover, minivan or SUV.

If you recognize the individual in the surveillance pictures, please call Crimestoppers at 977-4000.

Unlike many recent larcenies from vehicles, these cars were locked. For your safety, we ask that you remove all valuables from your vehicle. It is especially important to make sure valuable items are not visible and in plain sight.

Please be aware of your surroundings and report if you see any suspicious behavior in a parking lot or any other public place.
